All of our branches are fully equipped with the stevedoring equipment that is required to handle all forms of cargo. All gear is certified, maintained and stored in specialist gear stores. BPO has unlimited access to good quality cargo handling equipment including an extensive forklift fleet and the ability and financial muscle to acquire new equipment on short notice. Indeed, BPO has identified the quality and reliability of equipment as a key source of competitive advantage.
Our stevedoring operations place a strong emphasis on safety and compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and Merchant Shipping Acts. We pride ourselves in the ongoing training and development of staff with training systems and documented operational manuals set in place by experienced stevedores. Our stevedoring operations are continuously evaluated and monitored to identify opportunities for improvement.
In addition to our stevedoring services, BPO also runs a bulk handling operation that undertakes payloading and separation in Richards Bay as a supplementary service to provide ferrochrome exporters with an effective cargo payloading and separation service. We now offer this service to all of our clients in respect of most bulk commodities from our Richards Bay base where we are striving to be an industry leader in cocoon welding and in-hold horizontal diversification.
